Culture Near You Submission Terms & Conditions

You must be 18 years of age or older to submit an entry to Culture Near You.

All submissions are voluntary on your part.

You are solely responsible for the content that you submit and the consequences of submitting it.

Culture Near You was initiated when, as part of their Cultural Strategy, Dublin City Council asked Dublin City Council Culture Company to locate and catalogue the city’s cultural assets. The way that the data is processed by Dublin City Council Culture Company and Dublin City Council means that both our organisations jointly fulfil the role of data controller when you provide information.

You retain ownership of your submission. However, by submitting content, you give Dublin City Council Culture Company, Dublin City Council and those authorised by Dublin City Council Culture Company, permission to use it for any educational, promotional, or other standard purposes, in any media now known or later developed, without compensation to you. Your further give the public permission to share the content you submit, for personal, educational or non-commercial uses in any media, now known or later developed, without compensation to you.

You will not submit content that is off-topic, partisan-political, contains personal attacks or expletives, or is otherwise abusive, threatening, unlawful, harassing, discriminatory, libellous, obscene, false, pornographic or that infringes on the rights of any third party.

You will only submit content about a person or entity that is yourself or for which you have received permission from the person or entity that wishes to submit an entry. If you are submitting information about someone else, you must first check:

– the name they want to appear under,

– how they want to be described,

– whether they want their business location to be published on the map or categorised under their neighbourhood or as citywide.

Any content you are submitting should not include full names or other personally identifiable information about children currently under the age of 18, without obtaining prior verifiable consent from the child’s parent or guardian. Information about children under the age of 18 may only be shared if you (the submitter) are the parent or legal guardian of each child represented or if you have obtained prior written content from each child’s parent or legal guardian.

By submitting content, you waive any privacy expectations that you may have with regard to the submitted content. Dublin City Council Culture Company will, if appropriate, publish the content you submit on this website and make it available to the general public online (except personal contact details). Do not submit any content or personally identifiable information that you do not want to be made public.

Dublin City Council Culture Company will not disclose your email address or full name in relation to your submission. However, your own submission may contain other personal information that may give rise to a privacy issue. This is beyond the responsibility of Dublin City Council Culture Company. You understand that Dublin City Council Culture Company monitors all submitted content and is under no obligation to publish or otherwise use the content you submit.

If your content is approved by Dublin City Council Culture Company for posting, website visitors may share your content via social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. These sites operate independently of Dublin City Council Culture Company and have their own privacy policies. In addition, comments with which you may disagree may become associated with the content you submit.
