A mapping project which discovered the Belmayne area from children’s viewpoint as well as imagining what occupied the area a thousand years earlier, and a series of photography projects, encouraged participants to imagine what changes they would like to see for their villages and communities.

The project created a publication featuring photos of the participants in places they would like to see changed, or places that had already seen a positive change along with a short piece about how they felt that place could contribute to the development of the area.

The National Neighbourhood is a Dublin City Council cultural programme run by Dublin City Council Culture Company. It spans the Dublin City Council region, and brings together Dublin City Council’s libraries, local area offices, City Arts Office and Dublin City Gallery, in partnership with National Cultural Institutions (The Abbey Theatre, The National Museum of Ireland, The National Library of Ireland, The National Gallery of Ireland, The National Concert Hall, the Chester Beatty, The National Archives and The Irish Museum of Modern Art).
