Statement of policy

Discrimination is unacceptable and equality of opportunity is integral to Dublin City Council Culture Company's practices and procedures. This statement outlines the Company’s commitment to these principles. This statement will be implemented and updated in accordance with the appropriate statutory requirements.

The aim of the statement is to ensure no applicant, prospective contractor or supplier is discriminated against either directly or indirectly on the grounds of gender, civil status, family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, race or membership of the Traveller community.

Dissemination

This statement will be included in all Open Calls, Invitations to Appoint, Requests for Quotation, Requests for Tender and Requests for Proposals posted or sent by the Culture Company.

A copy of this statement will be included as an appendix to all Contracts for Services and Letters of Understanding issued to contractors or suppliers.

A copy of the statement will be made available to all Culture Company employees via their Employee Handbook.

Selection

  • All Culture Company staff involved in procurement will receive training in the application of this statement so that they are aware of its content and provisions.

  • Culture Company will endeavour, through appropriate and ongoing training, to ensure that employees serving on assessment panels or determining procurement selection will not discriminate, whether consciously or unconsciously, in making these assessments.

  • Procurement briefs and open calls will be written in plain English and clearly set out the process, the criteria and the documentation requirements for making a submission.

  • Culture Company will adopt a non-discriminatory approach to the promotion and dissemination of open calls.

  • Shortlisting (and interviewing as relevant) will be carried out by a minimum of two people to ensure selection decisions are not influenced by any conscious or unconscious bias.

  • All applicants, prospective contractors or suppliers who apply for opportunities with the Culture Company will receive fair treatment. All contractors are welcome to request reasonable accommodation or access supports throughout the procurement process. Any contractor invited to interview will be provided with the interview questions in advance, to that everyone has the same opportunity to prepare.
