Our work has been recognised and awarded nationally and internationally. We are proud to have won these awards for our Programmes, and particularly proud of the ones that relate to our engagement work in building cultural audiences and cultural access in Dublin.

European Heritage Award | Europa Nostra Award Winner 2026
Winner: Dublin City Council Culture Company.
Winning programme: 14 Henrietta Street.
Category: Citizen's Engagement and Awareness-raising.
This award recognises the people-first approach at 14 Henrietta Street. By listening and talking with former residents, the local community, visitors, historians and experts, 14 Henrietta Street keeps people at the centre of the museum and ensures that the stories of the lives lived here carry equal weight to the documented historical facts.
In this way, the museum continues to gather memories and discover new stories, creating an experience where history is not just preserved but continuously discovered, shared and brought to life.

International Award UCLG - Mexico City - Culture 21 5th Edition Award Winner 2022
Winner: Dublin City Council Culture Company.
Winning programme: AWE: Cultural Engagement through Accessibility, Wellbeing and Evidence.
Category: City / Local or Regional Government, recognising cities who have distinguished themselves in the promotion of cultural rights for local sustainable development.
This international award recognises the work of the Dublin City Council Culture Company and their innovative responses to providing creative and cultural opportunities in Dublin.
The prize was awarded as recognition of the investment Dublin City Council made establishing and supporting the Culture Company to focus on work that at its heart is about cultural rights. Dublin City Council provides the funding, infrastructure and support to enable our work throughout the city.

European Museum of the Year Award: The Silletto Prize 2020
Winner: Dublin City Council Culture Company.
Winning programme: 14 Henrietta Street.
Category: Community Participation and Engagement
The Silletto Prize is awarded to museums which excel at engaging with their communities.
The prize is awarded to a museum which has demonstrated excellence in involving its local community in planning and developing museum and heritage projects.
The award is presented as part of the European Museum Forum’s annual European Museum of the Year Awards, which support, encourage, award and showcase excellence and innovation in the museum field.

The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) Silver Medal 2024
Winner: Shaffrey Architects.
Winning programme: 14 Henrietta Street.
Category: Conservation and Restoration.
The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) awarded Shaffrey Architects with the Silver Medal for Conservation and Restoration for their work on 14 Henrietta Street.
Our building was awarded for "exemplifying innovation and architectural ingenuity in conserving and restoring Ireland's cultural and built heritage".
The medal is the highest award for buildings that have undergone a process of conservation and restoration and is awarded to an Architect or architectural practise for projects of significant merit completed within a specified three-year period.

14 Henrietta Street has been awarded the title of "Best of the Best Things to Do" in Europe in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Tripadvisor describes the winning attractions as “the iconic landmarks you simply have to see to believe.”
In 2022, Tripadvisor named 14 Henrietta Street as the top attraction in Ireland.

European Heritage Day Stories 2019
Winner: Dublin City Council Culture Company.
Winning Programme: Your Tenement Memories.
The European Heritage Days are the most widely celebrated participatory cultural event shared by the people of Europe.
In 2019 the Your Tenement Memories programme in 14 Henrietta Street was awarded as European Heritage Day Story.
Your Tenement Memories is the collecting of personal stories, memories, histories and experiences of the people who lived in 14 Henrietta Street and the tenement buildings of Dublin in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland Special Jury Award and Best Conservation / Restoration Project 2018
Winners: Dublin City Council and Shaffrey Architects.
Winning Programme: 14 Henrietta Street.
Category: Best Conservation / Restoration.
Category: Special Jury Award.
The conservation of 14 Henrietta Street was named Best Conservation/Restoration Project, and won the Special RIAI Jury Award at the prestigious annual RIAI Irish Architecture Awards.
The painstaking conservation work at the Dublin City Council-owned building was carried out over a 10-year period.

The 100 Archive 2026
Winner: Motif and Dublin City Council Culture Company.
Programme: Company Strategy 2025 to 2030.
Our Company Strategy has been selected as one of 100 most notable communication design projects for 2026.
The design and development of our strategy is now featured on 100 Archive, a platform for design in Ireland, founded by the communication design community.
Since 2012, 100 Archive has documented the past, present and emerging future of Irish communication design — publishing 100 notable projects each year selected through an open call.

Institute of Designers of Ireland: Best Design for Screen 2025
Winner: Motif and Dublin City Council Culture Company.
Programme: Company Strategy 2025 to 2030.
The Institute Awards Committee of the Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI) is “the preeminent organisation established to promote excellence in standards of design”.
They selected our Company Strategy website, designed by Motif, as winner of their 'Design for Screen' Award 2025.
The Strategy was also finalist and commended in the categories of
- ‘Print Design’ for the printed Strategy and
- ‘Design for Integrated Campaigns’ for the combination of all aspects of the Strategy.

Institute of Designers of Ireland: Special Award for Collaborative Design 2021
Winner: Stephen Mac Devitt and Dublin City Council Culture Company.
Programme: Winter Lights.
The Institute of Designers in Ireland awarded Winter Lights their Special Award for Collaborative Design.
Winter Lights is a Dublin City Council initiative that illuminates buildings across the city for the month of December every evening.
In 2020 Dublin City Council Culture Company worked with community groups, designers and artists across Dublin as part of DCC’s Winter Lights to create five artworks to light up the Samuel Beckett Bridge, Dublin City Hall, Mater Hospital, Hugh Lane Gallery and Civic Offices at Wood Quay.

2021 and 2020: Public Sector Excellence in Business Award
Winner: Dublin City Council Culture Company.
Programme: The National Neighbourhood.
In 2020 the Public Sector Magazine awarded their prize for Excellence in promoting cultural initaives within local communities and across Dublin to Dublin City Council Culture Company.
