Our Strategy consolidates what we have learned from listening to feedback, hearing what people are interested in, and what culture means to them.

Our Company Strategy 2025 to 2030 confirmed our continued commitment to sustainable growth, development and delivery of cultural programmes, projects, buildings and operations working closely with the people of Dublin.

Iseult Dunne, CEO and Owen Keegan, Chair of the Culture Company at the Strategy Launch in May 2025.

The Institute Awards Committee of the Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI) is “the preeminent organisation established to promote excellence in standards of design”.

They selected the Company Strategy designed by Motif, as a finalist as a seminal piece of Irish Design in three categories in their 2025 Awards:

  • ‘Print Design’ for the printed Strategy

  • ‘Design for Screen’ for the Strategy website, and

  • ‘Design for Integrated Campaigns’ for the combination of all aspects of the Strategy.

Dublin City Council Culture Company and Motif won the 2025 award for ‘Design for Screen’ and were commended in the other categories.

Paul Gately, Creative Director, Motif receiving the Award Trophy at the IDI Awards 2025.

Approaching the design in a very sustainably conscious and environmentally friendly way, the Motif team:

“developed the physical strategy pack, rooted in sustainable excellence, incorporating housing unit, thread sewn thermochromic publication and off-cut bookmarks, plus ancillary microsite furthering the concept and communications across digital, vastly increasing reach whilst retaining our sustainability goals.

With sustainability a vital component of the overall strategy, we endeavoured to develop all aspects of the project to the highest environmental standards, from selection of stocks, formats and production processes, to the applications themselves.”

“A simple concept, with, we hope, a creative, innovative, imaginative approach… as the reader holds, interacts and engages with the content, through the thermochromic response, their fingerprints begin to subtly reveal themselves, communicating the opportunity to ‘make your mark on the cultural fabric of the city’.”

In addition the Strategy has been selected by the 100 Archive, a platform for design in Ireland, founded by the communication design community. Since 2012, 100 Archive has documented the past, present and emerging future of Irish communication design — publishing 100 notable projects each year selected through an open call. Their website is:

“a living record of cultural, commercial, and societal change, captured through the visual communications that shape how Ireland sees itself and is seen internationally. Today, 100 Archive is widely used by designers, educators, students, researchers, and clients as a reference point for the evolution of Irish design practice.”
