August will see the start of a busy two month period for History and Heritage activities and events in Dublin we organise in partnership with our colleagues in Dublin City Libraries.

On August 11, at an event in City Hall, Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr Ray McAdam will launch of the eighth edition of History On Your Doorstep, the annual publication from the Dublin City Historian In Residence programme. History On Your Doorstep brings stories of Dublin's history to life, and highlights some of the Dublin City Historians in Residence work in neighbourhoods across the city to encourage local people to engage with history.

By engaging with local communities and keeping people front and centre of history, the Historians in Residence help the people of Dublin City feel a connection to their local history. History On Your Doorstep will be available in branch libraries and on Borrow Box this autumn.

Now in its thirteenth year, the Dublin Festival of History will announce its programme of free events, walks, talks, tours, screenings, and more, on Wednesday 27 August. The Festival provides people in the city with an opportunity to listen, discuss, and engage with topics explored by best-selling Irish and international historians. To find out more, sign up to the festival newsletter for a sneak preview of the programme by visiting dublinfestivalofhistory.ie and pick up a copy of the festival programme at your local library from August 27.

The Dublin City Historian in Residence programme and Dublin Festival of History is brought to you by Dublin City Council, and organised by Dublin City Libraries, in partnership with Dublin City Council Culture Company.
