Historian-in-Residence for Children
In September 2020, Dervilia Roche was announced as Dublin’s first Historian-in-Residence for Children.
It's been such a joy to work with the children of Dublin and to see the huge and varied interests in history that are there. Based in Richmond Barracks, in Inchicore, the residency is part of our Creative Residencies programme and is in partnership with Dublin City Libraries.The project seeks to provide space, opportunity and resources to help children uncover the stories of our city and its people, bringing the past to life by finding new and creative ways to engage and connect through history.
Initially a one-year project, the residency has been extended until September 2022 to further empower children in their own personal journey of discovery through stories and history.

This Creative Residency is made by Dublin City Council Culture Company in partnership with Dublin City Libraries and Richmond Barracks.
The Creative Residency programme creates partnerships to try out ideas, test new approaches and add to the cultural story of the city. Made by Dublin City Council Culture Company, the Creative Residencies encourage makers and experts to pilot new partnerships with organisations. By bringing creative people and organisations together, and by connecting through culture and conversation, we will develop and share new ways of working.
