14 Henrietta Street wins top attraction in Ireland

14 Henrietta Street wins top attraction in Ireland
  • Roinn

Congratulations to our team at 14 Henrietta Street, where they have been awarded the number one attraction in Ireland in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice "Best of the Best Things to Do 2022" Awards. Tripadvisor describes the winning attractions as “the iconic landmarks you simply have to see to believe.”

14 Henrietta Street has received Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards in 2020 and 2021 also, but this is the first time the museum has been awarded the top attraction in Ireland.

This award win is due to the quality of our tour guides. They are at the heart of 14 Henrietta Street. The stories they share of the lives of the people who lived in the building are emotive, surprising and memorable, leaving visitors with a vivid impression of what life was like here for past residents. With over 1,000 reviews on Tripadvisor, 14 Henrietta Street will also reach its 1,000th five-star review this week. This is testament to the care, consideration and conversational skill of our front of house and tour guide teams, who earn feedback like the below.

What visitors are saying:

“Myself and my partner thought this was by far the highlight of our trip. Through the guided tour they were able to keep my partner thoroughly engaged and enlightened, not so difficult for me as a self confessed history buff.

The tour guide Frank was wonderful and really added to the experience with his sense of humour and directness/frankness.” Review from 14 June 2022.

"Pat was an amazing tour guide and managed to keep the entire group enthralled with the stories and history of this great house. His humour and great knowledge of the house and the Dublin area was enlightening and I would highly recommend a visit to this very important part of our capitals history." Review from 10 June 2022.

"A wonderfully evocative tour of a once-grand town house that became a tenement. Our guide, Gillian was delightfully engaging, extremely well-informed and very, very entertaining. Quintessential Dublin. A joy. She showed us how the once great house was repurposed as a tenement and descended into dereliction. Gillian told us how generations of poor Dubliners lived and died in this ancient building. I thoroughly recommend this tour." Review from 4 June 2022.

When the awards were announced this week, Gillian Ryan, who has been a tour guide at 14 Henrietta Street since it opened said:

"I've been telling the stories of this house for four years. I'm always aware that I'm not just sharing memories of my family, or of Henrietta Street, because the people who come from all over the world tell us that they feel we're telling the stories of their families through the house too.

That's always amazing to me and it makes me emotional, so to receive this award voted by visitors means so much."
