Open invitation to take part in The National Neighbourhood
  • Roinn

Would you like to explore culture and connect to people, artists, museums, libraries and creative places across Dublin city?

Last updated: 10 May 2021

The National Neighbourhood brings people together from across the city, through a series of online projects with our cultural partners and artists - exploring all that the city has to offer, and keeping us connected through culture and conversation.

Each project features weekly discovery sessions and conversations, focusing on everything from history and heritage, to visual art, music, theatre, performance and more. At the end of the project we will help you identify your next creative or cultural steps, whether that is through developing a project idea with us, engaging in one of our other programmes, or using your new connections to the city’s cultural resources to continue your own adventure!

When does it start?

Our latest round began in late April 2021. We will announce a new call out for participants later in the summer.

In the meantime, if you'd like to know more you can get in touch with the team via neighbourhood@dublincitycouncilculturecompany.ie

Need help getting online?

Since bringing many of our activities online, we've realised that not everyone can connect with us in this way.

To address this, we're very excited to introduce a pilot initiative which can help get you online - whether that’s access to a tablet, getting connected to WiFi or simply a bit of help with how it all works.

Does that sound like you or someone you know?

We're keeping a few places on this round of The National Neighbourhood for participants who would like some assistance to participate digitally. So if you need a device, access to WiFi, or some help with technical know-how, we’d love to hear from you. You can get in touch with us via the email and phone number above.

What is The National Neighbourhood?

The National Neighbourhood creates ways for people to see and make culture in their place with people they know. We build cultural projects with communities, connecting artists, groups, and villages with libraries, museums and creative places across Dublin City. These new experiences, explorations, and connections are the foundation for people to build creativity into their everyday lives.

Made by Dublin City Council Culture Company in partnership with Dublin City Council (Dublin City Libraries, local area offices, Arts Office, Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane) and National Cultural Institutions (Abbey Theatre, Chester Beatty, Irish Museum of Modern Art, National Archives, National Concert Hall, National Gallery of Ireland, National Library of Ireland, the National Museum of Ireland).
